HonorSocietyCA Fan Project

@HonorSocietyCA is trying to organize a fan project. Here are the details - be sure to contact @HonorSocietyCA on twitter if you are interested in helping out!

Thanks for expressing an interest in helping out with this little present.

I'm working on a keepsake box for the Gentlemen, and I'm planning on giving it to them during the "Here Comes Trouble" tour.

I would love to fill that box with letters and messages from their fans. The letter could be whatever you'd like to write (for example, how much you appreciate all that they do for us, how much you love their music, ect...) and you can include a 4x6 photo of you and the Gents if you have one. Or if there's a video that you'd like for them to see, you could put it on a DVD and mail that in too.

The more fans that can contribute, the better this gift will be. =} Since I'm not sure of the tour dates yet, there is no actual deadline for you to send in your letter.

So that's my idea and if you'd still like to participate, let me know and I'll give you the address where you can mail in your letter. Thanks!

Article: Jersey band to sing anthem at NFL Pro Bowl

NorthJersey.com

BY MIKE KERWICK
The Record
STAFF WRITER

They watch a lot of football on their tour bus. So we offered this scenario: Two minutes left, your team down four, what quarterback do you want leading your squad down the field?

They couldn't come to a consensus. One musician wanted Peyton Manning. Another wanted Tom Brady. Someone mentioned Brett Favre.

This Sunday, Michael Bruno, Alex Noyes, Jason Rosen and Andrew Lee will get an up-close look at some of the best quarterbacks in the game. Honor Society, a band that used to rehearse at Noyes' home in Midland Park, will be playing the NFL Pro Bowl, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPN. We spent a few minutes on the phone with them last week.

Q. You guys are big football fans?

Alex: We're big Giants fans. Unfortunately, we're no longer in it, but we've got high hopes for next year.

Q. What do you think about the Jets' run so far?

Andrew: It's great to see the Jets do something. They've been struggling for so many years and it's great to see [Mark] Sanchez, a young guy, leading the team. I'm really excited for them.

Q. What kind of feedback have you guys gotten on [your newest album] "Fashionably Late"?

Michael: The feedback has been great. I think it was really a record that we made primarily for our fans in addition to satisfying our musical desires. It was a record that was a long time in the making for our fan base, a real major label record. From the fan perspective, I think it's been incredible … we got a great review in Rolling Stone on our first single, "Over You." I think the record has a lot of life left.

Alex: One of our songs, "Here Comes Trouble," is getting rotation now on Sirius satellite radio on Hits 1. So that's been really cool for us. To be listening to the radio and finally have that moment where you hear your song on the radio.

Q. You guys are in the middle of a six-gig run with Timbaland. Do you have any funny Timbaland stories?

Alex: Not only is he an incredible producer, but he is able to translate that performance in the live setting. He does this great thing during the show where he almost has this James Brown-esque moment where he starts calling out to the different people in his band … he calls out, 'Drummer, you stop. Now keyboards only.' He dictates the whole thing. And every night is different because he cuts songs early, goes into songs whenever he wants. He's just a great musical mind.

Michael: I think in just a short few shows we learned a lot from watching him and his band. We actually had our own headlining show … in New Jersey, kind of a special fan appreciation acoustic show. We actually started to put what Alex was talking about into practice. We started a jam session and improvised on it. We've already learned a lot from him. And the New York show was off the charts. P Diddy came out, Lil' Kim came out, Keri Hilson came out. We were really lucky to be a part of it.

What's it like to come back here and play shows in New York and New Jersey?

Andrew: The homecoming shows are great and … [at School of Rock in Hackensack] was no different. We were playing songs we probably hadn't played in two or three years. There's this one song that we did last night called "No Win Situation" where we were just going to tease it… We stopped and the entire audience sang the chorus.

You're performing the anthem in addition to the pregame set. What makes doing the anthem so tough?

Andrew: You can't mess it up. It takes a tremendous vocalist to really pull off the anthem. When you think back to Whitney Houston and others, there's a lot to live up to in that moment. All eyes are on you. There's no music to hide behind. And you have to make your country proud. It's a lot of pressure. It's a simple song, or seemingly simple song because we all know it growing up. It's actually a very complicated song, especially when it comes to putting a vocal arrangement together.

Michael: I don't think anyone's expecting Whitney Houston's version of the anthem. The way I'm approaching it is obviously put on a great vocal performance, but really just make it heartfelt.

The set list for the pregame … have you guys worked that out yet?

Andrew: I think we're going to do the single that we started off with, 'Over You," and then I think we're going to play "Here Comes Trouble." That might change, but I think those are the two songs we're going to do.

Timbaland, Honor Society, The Fray - LA Weekly

Timbaland, Honor Society, The Fray
By Mikael Wood
From LA Weekly

Shock Value II, Timbaland's recently released sequel to his hit 2007 disc, is not without its share of bracingly inventive beats from the guy who more or less defined the sound of hip-hop and R&B in the late '90s and early '00s. Truth be told, though, the new album is more notable for its bizarro guest list than for its musical achievements: Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado you understand, but Australian garage rockers Jet? Namby-pamby piano popsters the Fray? Chad Kroeger of motherfucking Nickelback? It's as though the man behind "Big Pimpin'" suddenly took a music-supervision gig at Grey's Anatomy. (Stranger still: The Kroeger cut, "Tomorrow in the Bottle," is one of Shock Value II's best.)

For his current tour, Timbo's taking some of his guests on the road and having others join the proceedings via digital projection; at the House of Blues, we're promised in-the-flesh appearances by Jay Sean (aka the dude who sings "Down"), the Fray (bummer) and Honor Society, sport coat–clad white-funk protégés of the Jonas Brothers.

Timbaland's On Wrong Side of Tracks - Boston Herald Review

Timbaland’s on Wrong Side of Tracks
By Lauren Carter
From the Boston Herald

If Timbaland was as good at staging live shows as he is at crafting beats, Tuesday’s performance wouldn’t have been such a bizarre mess.

From his anticlimactic entrance to his long overdue exit from the House of Blues stage 100 minutes later, the superproducer and rapper was caught between dual roles and pulled off neither.

Timbaland is known more for his wildly inventive beats than his solo work. So his choice to spend the majority of his set performing rave-ready solo material while neglecting some of his most memorable beats was highly questionable. It also didn’t help that Timbaland in the spotlight is more awkward than exciting.

In an effort to offset his monotone sing-rap drone and barely-there stage presence, he called on digital guests, including Jet and JoJo, who appeared via giant digital screen for “Timothy Where Have You Been.” Keri Hilson materialized digitally for the hit “The Way I Are”; Drake was more captivating via prerecorded video on “Say Something” than the live Timbaland.

Not only did beefy, giant-armed Tim spend much of his set indulging in second-rate solo material, but he often rolled out tedious extended versions of songs. He too briefly launched into what he should have been doing the whole time: running through innovative production work for artists such as Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake.

The show was further weighed down by subpar guests - Haze, D.O.E. and Timbaland’s brother Sebastian, who doubled as an opening act, lip-syncing his way through unfamiliar songs. The only bright spots were snippets of hit songs from other artists and a surprise appearance from Petey Pablo, who performed “Raise Up.”

Honor Society’s opening set was the most musically sound portion of the show. With a charismatic, catchy brand of rock laced with r&b and new wave, it could pass for a less screamworthy version of the Jonas Brothers.

Scavenger Hunt Prize & example

Incase you missed our tweet earlier - this is the grand prize for our scavenger hunt:

It is Honor Society's FIRST magazine cover. We are also pretty sure that this is the first copy they have signed, since both Alex and Andy asked us how we got a copy of it and were really impressed we had it.

Also - this weekends task is to take a picture of you with a gent - except it can't be a real gent it has to be one you made. We KNOW our followers, Honor Society's fans, are very creative and talented and we can't wait to see what you all come up with.

The reason why we chose this task is because Katie once made herself a David Wright and she won a contest with it. So if you need an example and maybe some inspiration - here is the David Wright that Katie made.

Of course, you don't have to go this same route for YOUR gent (or hey, maybe try making the whole band? haha) but we just thought we'd put this idea out there!

The most important part of it all is that you have fun making your gent - no matter how you decide to do it! The possibilities are endless!
