Article: Slurpee® Rocks Out With First Virtual `Battle of the Bands`

Last Band Standing To Win $10,000 Prize;

7-Eleven® Introduces First Slurpee, Big Gulp® Guitar Cups
DALLAS--(Business Wire)--
7-Eleven, Inc. rocks out this month with "Battle of the Bands," an in-store and
online promotion that pits 28 bands from across the U.S. in a music video
competition at www.slurpee.com and adds an in-store first -- three colorful
32-oz guitar-shaped Slurpee cups and a giant 54-ounce guitar-shaped Big Gulp
cup. The Big Gulp guitar cup comes in both blue and red and has its own custom
guitar strap and straw. It is replicated after the guitar controllers in today`s
wildly popular rock music video games.

All five guitars can be personalized with stickers that are included with
purchase. In addition, three collectible Slurpee straws feature psychedelic
guitars, each with a unique design that can be removed and used as a backpack
clip or keychain. It wouldn`t be a Slurpee promotion without something new to
savor. Battle Berry is September`s featured Slurpee flavor, a sweet and tart
combination created by The Coca-Cola Company, which blends the new yumberry
super-fruit taste with currant and other berries.

The centerpiece of the promotion is the actual online "Battle of the Bands" that
includes a top prize of $10,000 for the last band standing. The final four each
receive a $1,000 prize and a custom-made electric guitar designed like a giant
Slurpee cup.

Almost 70 bands submitted music videos of original songs. Requirements were that
the song length be less than four minutes and contain no offensive material. Of
those submitted, 28 bands were selected to participate in the online competition
that has visitors to the Slurpee Nation website voting for their favorite
throughout September. These 28 will receive $500 7-Eleven gift cards.

After the first round of voting, the field will be narrowed to 16 and placed in
a bracketed tournament. Bands will then compete head-to-head until a winner is
named.

The Slurpee Concert Series continues in September with performances in six
cities - San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Dallas and Miami.
Tickets are an affordable $7.11 (plus taxes and fees) for general admission and
are available at www.livenation.com. Bowling for Soup is the featured artist in
all cities except San Francisco, where Honor Society will headline.

"This is the first time Slurpee has sponsored grassroots music competition with
music-lovers from around the country picking the winners," said Jay Wilkins,
7-Eleven brand manager for proprietary cold beverages. "That, along with the
cool guitar cups and affordable Slurpee concert series bring the music, and of
course Slurpee and Big Gulp drinks, to the people."

Article: Arena trek with Jonas Brothers is a dream come true for Honor Society

Honor Society has been releasing infectious pop-rock tunes since 2005, but the band's goal of releasing an album always remained out of reach.

"At the time, we were a struggling band, so an EP was all we could afford," frontman Michael Bruno says.

The band released two EPs, including 2007's A Tale of Risky Business, which drummer Alex Noyes decided to send to some friends - who also happened to be friends with the Jonas Brothers.

Two years later, Honor Society is playing stadiums, opening for the Jonases and Jordin Sparks. Fashionably Late, the outfit's cheekily titled debut, is set for release Sept. 15 on a yet-to-be-named joint-venture label between Hollywood Records and Jonas Brothers. The album, co-written by Honor Society and John Fields and executive-produced by the Jonas Brothers, is set to bring the band's multi-layered hooks and earnest lyrics to a wider platform.

The Jonas Brothers have acted as mentors, helping Honor Society's members hone their craft, giving them advice on their live show and co-producing a few tracks on Late.

Even without the Jonas Brothers' assistance, Honor Society's tireless promotion has quickly raised its profile. The band performed on various local news stations throughout 2009. Constant activity on social networks has resulted in 3 million MySpace plays.

Honor Society also has given free acoustic shows across the U.S. to build its fan base, frequently announcing them on Twitter the day of the performance. The band also gave acoustic performances of Where Are You Now, the tender single on the soundtrack to the Summit Entertainment film Bandslam, in various movie theatres at premieres for the teen-friendly movie.

Leading up to the release of Late, Honor Society will be on the road as part of the Jonas Brothers' tour while simultaneously headlining its Full Moon Crazy club tour.

Bruno says that as much as he loves the intimacy of club shows, the arena trek has been an incredible experience. "You dream of playing arenas when running around as a kid playing air guitar."

Our Review of AA Kids' Day

Saturday began as a MISERABLE day. It was cloudy, rainy and just gross outside. I got to Katie's house 8 a.m. It was EARLY for the both of us. We found out the night before that I won tickets from Twist Magazine. It was a total surprise because I forgot that I had entered! Our seats were reserved (section 42, Row F) and I was glad to accept them. Knowing that we could take our time getting to our seats certainly brightened our day!

After I arrived at Katie's, we got Britt (Katie's cousin) and then headed to Flushing, NY. Doors opened around 10 a.m. (was originally 9:30 a.m.) and most of the outdoor activities were canceled due to the inclement weather. We met Kourtney (Assistant Editor of Twist Magazine) at 10:30 a.m. and entered the outdoor area. We found coverage at a grill area. We got our Evian water even though Katie had a point that we could have filled up empty bottles with rain water. (Don't worry, we would never actually do that!)

By 1 p.m. we were finally allowed into the stadium. That was a trek because once we got inside, we had to walk all the way around the stadium. The "talent" equipment was blocking the hall. Our gate was literally three gates to the left and were forced to the right. Guess what happened when we get to our seats?! THE RAIN STOPPED! That was a very exciting moment.

As people found their seats, the announcer came out to warm up the crowd. He shared the rules (green flag/red flag) and then introduced some teen members of the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network. NJTL was established by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder in 1969 with the mission of developing the character of young people through tennis and education. The teens participated in a skills challenge. The winner would be participating in the Professionals Skills Challenge (the one that raises money for their charity) later on in the day.

The hosts of Arthur Ashe Kids' Day were television personalities Susie Castillo and Quddus (MTV) — Quddus looks so handsome with short hair! They were great hosts.

Mateo kicked-off the show. He performed one song and seemed to be a good opening act.

Jordin Sparks was second in line. She performed "Battlefield," "S.O.S." and "One Step at a Time." She had straight hair and a cute black & white dress. Her back-up singers and band looked and sounded great as well.

Following Jordin, we saw a quick game between James Blake/Kim Clijsters and Devin Britton/Ana Ivanovic. The referee was WILL FERRELL. Will came out dressed exactly like James Blake - bald cap and everything. Then Will had problems getting up in the referee chair. It was very comical.

After the friendly-bantering, the game ended and Honor Society got ready for their performance. It's been awhile since we saw the guys set up their own equipment. :)
The performed their new single "Over You" and then "See U In the Dark." The guys killed it (in a good way!). They sounded so great and we know that they were thrilled and overwhelmed just standing there - before their set, we noticed Mike standing with his arms crossed, just taking in the moment. We're so proud of all of the gentlemen for coming this far and for going further!

After Honor Society's set came the professional skills challenge. This contest included former US Open champions Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer. Will Ferrell and Skylar (a member of NJTL) also participated in the contest. The players had to hit "Hess" targets. Maria, Andy and Serena raised $15,000 for their charities. Roger raised $12,000 for his charity. Will and the winner of NJTL raised $10,000 for their charities! It was a great day to support those in need!

After the contest, Justin Bieber performed. I was blown away by how many people love this kid. I mean, he was great, but the screams for him were louder than the screams for Jordin and Honor Society put together! Justin reminds me of a young Aaron Carter and I think he'll do very well for himself. He's very talented — dances, sings and can play the guitar (among other instruments!)

After Justin's final performance (he sang three songs including "One Time" and "Bigger"), we watched another friendly match — the Will and Andy Show! The teams were Andy Murray/Will Ferrell and Andy Roddick/Will Arnett. I about died when I saw Will Arnett come out. I couldn't believe he was there! I just love Will Arnett. Kenan Thompson was the referee for this match. He was very funny.

By this time, the sun was peeking out from behind the gray clouds. It was a great way to end the day!
